Bleaching and its Objectives

Bleaching

Bleaching is the process of remove natural color from materials. A process for improving the whiteness of textile material, with or without the removal of natural coloring matter and extraneous substances. Bleaching of textiles can be classified into two groups -
1. Oxidative bleaching and 
2. Reductive bleaching

After bleaching creat very high-density cake

Oxidative bleaching

Generally, oxidative bleachings are carried out using sodium hypochlorite, sodium chlorite or sulfuric acid. Natural fibres like cotton, ramie, jute, wool, bamboo are all generally bleached with oxidative methods.

Reductive bleaching

Reductive bleaching is done with sodium hydrosulphite, a powerful reducing agent. Fibers like polyamides, polyacrylics and polyacetates can be bleached using reductive bleaching technology.

Objectives of Bleaching

1. To remove natural color, impurities from textile materials
2. To bring the textile materials permanent white
3. Increasing the degree of whiteness
4. To preserve a good user and technological properties of the textile materials
5. To accelerate the next dyeing process
